Worship Communion 6th Sunday of Trinity
Week of 04 to 09 July 2016
“Partnering with God”

Introduction: People of the kingdom of God make common cause with God, so they obey his command which prevails in his kingdom and which at the same time is the foundation on which it is built. God’s command is one of love because ”God is love” 1 Jn.4:16. And ”love is the fulfillment of the law” Ro.13:10. In this respect, Jesus said, ”If you love me, keep my commands” Jn.14:15. Those who do this gain a great confidence as it is written, ”The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them” 1 Jn.3:24a.

Monday, 04: Love God with wholehearted love.
“You shall have no other gods before me” Ex.20:3.
Reading 1: Mt.6:24-34.Reading 2: Ex.20:1-17.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Ex.20:3.
Introduction:God abhors a wavering mind for it is like treachery. Worshiping plural gods is here pointed out, referring to ”those who bow down and swear by the LORD and who also swear by Molek” Zep.1 :4. The Apostle James said: ”But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do” Jas.1:4-5.

Tuesday, 05: Make God your reason for living.
“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” Ro.6:11.
Reading 1: Ps.4:1-5.Reading 2: Ro.6:3-11.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Ro.6:11.
Introduction:Is there any gain or blessing in serving sin? Not at all. The Apostle Paul said,“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”Ph.1:21.Therefore, he said, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me” Ga.2:20.“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world”Ga.6:14.

Wednesday,06: God wants to reconcile his people with one another.
“First go and be reconciled to them”Mt.5:24.
Reading 1: Jas.5:15-20.Reading 2: Mt.5:20-26.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Mt.5:24.
Introduction: God is love, so He can’t bear separation. Therefore, He proclaims and commands to proclaim repentance through which forgiveness of sin is received so that the wall of separation, that of sin which separates us from Him, may be removed. Likewise, He commands his people to love and to be at peace with one another, then, “by this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” said Jesus (Jn.13:35). God’s children have peace with all men.

Thursday,07: Be united in life with Jesus.
“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him”Ro.6:8.
Reading 1: Mt.10:34-40.Reading 2: Ro.6:3-11.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Ro.6:7-8.
Introduction: ”Dying and living with” Christ involves a life connection and a full commitment to Him. It is similar to spouses of whom Jesus said, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” Mt.19:6. In fact, those whom God has received to be His own and united with Himself through his blood (2 Pet.2:9), He has also bound them to Himself by means of the holy covenant that will never fail, and which is summarized by his word: “I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people” Le.28:12.

Friday, 08: Join in God’s work.
“For I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” Jn.14:12a.
Reading 1: 1 Co.3:1-11.Reading 2: Jn.14:11-14.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Jn.14:12.
Introduction: Making common cause with God in the advancement of the kingdom of heaven on earth: this is what Jesus has established to accomplish for the people whom He has taken to be His own, those to whom He said, “For I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” Is.43:1. He has taken them indeed to belong to Him, and has made them ”to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father”Rev.1:6, just like Him, “a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God” Heb.2:17.

Saturday, 09: Share in Christ’s inheritance.
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ”Ro.8:17.
Reading 1: Mt.25:31-40.Reading 2: Ro.8:12-17.Preaching 1 (option). Preaching 2: Ro.8:17.
Introduction: God’s children are those born of God through baptism and the Holy Spirit, in accordance to Jesus’ word: ”Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit’” Jn.3:5-6. People “born of he Spirit” are those who have Jesus as their Lord and Savior, so that He makes them heirs of his kingdom according to his words, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” Mt.25:35b.
