FLM TOBY FANANTENANA 67 Ha
Worship Communion 9th Sunday after Trinity
Week of 25 to 30 July 2016
“Be faithful in the Lord”
Introduction: God requires of his people to be faithful, that they be found sincere, unambiguous, true to their word
and the covenant they made, carrying out the will of the Lord who sent them.God has raised them up to be witnesses
of his truth and servants who work at his plan, such as Mose who has been referred to by the Holy Scripture as ” a
servant in all God’s house” Heb. 3:5a. To these Jesus says, “Come and share your master’s happiness!”
Monday 25: Faithful so as to give glory to God.
“Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name” 1 Chr.29:13.
Reading 1: Lk.17:11-19. Reading 2: 1 Chr.29:10-13. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2: 1 Chr.29:13.
Introduction: Faithful persons are not among those who delight with what they have received but are unable to say
« thank you », nor do they boast of what they have as though they did not receive it (1 Co.4:7). For God is the source
of all blessings (Jas.1:17) and He deserves to receive all the thanksgiving and the glory due Him. The ability to
return thanks to the Creator is a feature of character which differentiates humans from all other living creatures and
which allows them to constantly find favor in the sight of God. The Lord says, indeed,“Those who honor me I will
honor” 1 Sa.2:30b.
Tuesday 26: Faithful in the faith.
“ So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”1 Co.10:12.
Reading 1: Heb.10:32-39. Reading 2 : 1 Co.10:6-13. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2 : 1 Co.10:12.
Introduction: ”Being faithful in the faith” means remaining in the faith one has professed and holding on to it. In
truth, the Lord said, “My righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks
back”Heb.10:38. The present time is one of withdrawal from the faith a result of wickedness (Mt.24:12), but this is
also “a time of faith” where the word of God’s urges the believers saying, “So do not throw away your confidence;
it will be richly rewarded”Heb.10:35, namely by the shining of God’s glory (Mal.4:2 / Jn.11:40).
Wednesday 27: Faithful in the teaching.
“A worker … who correctly handles the word of truth”2 Ti.2:15b.
Reading 1: 1 Jn.4:1-6. Reading 2 : 2 Ti.2:11-15. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2 : 2 Ti.2:15.
Introduction: Jesus’teaching is a sound teaching, it is the flawless word of God, full of grace and truth (Jn.1:14). He
commands to his people to do the same, consistenly with what is written: “But you are a chosen people, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of
darkness into his wonderful light” 1 Pet.2 :9.

Reading 1: Ro.14:7-12. Reading 2 : Lk.16:1-9. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2 : Lk.16:1-2.
Introduction: God’s grace overflowed in order to justify those He has called and chosen to serve Him and to steward his wealth (Ro.8:30). Paul said: “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service” 1 Ti.1:12. But the Lord will hold us accountable, therefore Paul warns us, “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling” Phi.2:12b.
Vendredi 29: Faithful in the service.
“Well done, good and faithful servant!” Mt.25:21a.
Reading 1: Ne.6:5-15. Reading 2 : Mt.25:14-21. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2 : Mt.25:21.
Introduction: “Faithfulness in the service”, so is the hallmark of the servant who sincerely does God’s work and
persists in it. Accepting God as Master worthy to be served above all others is the foundation. Joshua was faithful
and stated, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” Jo.24 :15. He may undergo various trials but
the Lord is able to make him stand firm, so that he may be found faithful until the end and be awarded the crown of
righteousness (2 Tim.4:8).
Saturday 30: Faithful in the love of God.
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us” 1 Jn.4:16.
Reading 1: 1 Co.13: 1-13. Reading 2 : 1 Jn.4: 12-16. Preaching 1 (choice). Preaching 2 : 1 Jn.4:16.
Introduction: Being ”faithful in the love of God” involves remaining in God’s love and in the union with Jesus who
is “God’s love that became flesh”. Having God’s love is the hallmark of God’s children. It is both God’s nature of
which his people live and God’s life that they share to those around them. This is the work of the Holy Spirit within
them, for“the fruit of the Spirit is love” Ga.5 :22a.
