Communion’s prayer, Sunday V after Easter
Week from 29 May to 03 June, 2017
“Get ready to receive the Holy Spirit”
*

Introduction: God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the believers is a great guarantee for the testimony for the Gospel. For He works for the perfecting of the believers and the advancement of God’s work and kingdom. In this regard Jesus said to his disciples: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth“ Acts 1: 8. To this end, He gave his disciples some reassuring and encouraging words before He left. The first word is a comforting word: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you“ Jn.14:16-17. The second one is a statement that the Holy Spirit is a witness for the Lord, as Jesus said: “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me“ Jn.15:26. The last one announces that He is the absolute Master as it is written: “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you“ Jn.14:26.
