Introduction: The main idea included in the title “God is Lord” means literally « Know and accept the Lordship of God », even Him as “the unique God.” The first commandment in the ten commandments God gave Moses says, « You shall have no other gods before Me » Exo. 20:3. In this regard, the Lord really expects that His elect will obey Him and say, « Fear the Lord your God, serve Him only and take your oaths in His Name » Deut. 6:13 – Mt. 4:10. The devil usurped to himself the Lordship when he tempted Jesus in the desert as it is written, « Again the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. ‘All this I will give you’ he said ‘If you will bow down and worship me’ » Mt. 4: 8-9. From the beginning, since Adam and Eve’s time and up to now the devil has tempted men in many ways: love of money, envy of other people’s possessions, putting someone in the place of God, putting one’s trust in pieces of wood and in the work of darkness… Happy are those who can testify like Thomas who, when he received the mercy to witness Jesus’ resurrection, came and knelt at His foot and said, « My Lord and My God » Joh. 20: 28. So was Peter who answered Jesus’ question, « What do you say I am? » by saying, « You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God » Mt. 16: 15- 16. For then Jesus said to Him, « Blessed are you, Simon, Son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood but by My Father in heaven” Mt.15:17.We need the Holy Spirit to make us really know Jesus as the Lord and Savior. He already gave us the promise, « When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father. He will testify about Me. » Likewise He said, « Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches » Rev. 2:7.

Introduction: God’s purpose from the beginning is that people will know that as Lord He deserves to get the praise, the honor and the glory (Rev. 5: 13), and especially deserves to have their trust that He will save them and set them free from all that cause sorrow. The Psalmist is convinced of that and sang, « But as for me, it is good to be near God, I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge. I will tell of all your deeds » Ps. 73: 28.

Introduction: We call « Lord » whoever has authority on what he owns. The Psalmist said, « The earth is the Lord ‘s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it » Ps. 24:1. In this regard, Jesus said when He rose from the dead, « All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. » Mt. 28: 18. This shows that Jesus is Lord.

Introduction: God is most holy, so He should be given the honor and the glory He deserves (Isa.6: 3). He does not ask us to do that with our lips or with outward manners but from our heart. Jesus said, « These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me » Mt. 15: 8. Honor Him as Lord as it is written: « Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight » Pro. 3: 5-6.
Thursday 25: The Lord God makes all things submit to Him.
« When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus knees » Luke. 5:8.
Reading 1: Phil. 2: 5-11. Reading 2: Luke 5: 1-11. Preaching: Luke 5: 8. Introduction: Nothing is impossible to God (Mt.19: 26). As He is Lord He can make all things submit to His authority (Ps. 8: 6). And He is the Almighty God, so He fulfills all the words He says and confirms the words of his messengers (Luke 1:37). In this respect it is written, « Is there anything too hard for the Lord? » Gen. 18: 14. It is right to bow in humble reverence before Him since He is Lord.
Friday 26: Obey the Lord ‘s word.
« Not everyone who says to Me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven » Mt. 7: 21.

Introduction: It is impossible to anyone to enter the kingdom of heaven on their own─it is the authority of God only « who holds the key of David. What He opens, no one can shut and what He shuts, no one can open » Rev. 3: 7. And « the Lord knows those who are His » 2 Tim. 2: 19, all those who are reconciled with Him and call on His Name and worship Him with true heart. John the apostle said, « Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth » 1 John 3: 18.

Introduction: Paul the apostle says, « Give to everyone what you owe them… if respect then respect, if honor then honor » Rom. 13: 7. If we think men deserve it, how much more God deserves it? Happy are those who acknowledge Him as Lord and give Him honor because He says, « Those who honor Me, I will honor » 2 Sam. 2: 30.
