MALAGASY LUTHERAN CHURCH
Communion‟s prayer, New Year – Epiphany
Week from 01 to 06 January 2018
“Receive the grace of God!”
*

Introduction: Receive the grace of God! “Grace” is mostly considered as the acquisition of earthly things, which are easily dissolved. The
Apostle Paul warned about this, saying: “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men” 1 Cor.15:19. For
“the grace of God” is the gift of forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God, in order for us to receive his salvation and to inherit the
kingdom of God for eternal life. This is done through Jesus Christ his Son. For it is written: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of
the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with
his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through
his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” Eph 1:3-7. And after He has cleansed us with his precious
blood (1 Pet 1:18-19), He has made us instruments for noble purposes (2 Tim 2:20), to which He freely gives his unlimited grace—and for
this New Year, „the year of the Lord‟s favor” Is 61:2a.
